Detroit assigns five to Grand Rapids

Sulak assigned to Finland; Three players placed on injured reserve to reduce roster to 24

DETROIT - The Detroit Red Wings today assigned forwards Matt Lorito and Ben Street, defensemen Brian Lashoff and Dylan McIlrath and goaltender Jared Coreau to the American Hockey League's Grand Rapids Griffins. The Red Wings also assigned defenseman Libor Sulak to the Lahti Pelicans of Finland's SM-liiga. Additionally, Detroit placed forwards Tyler Bertuzzi, Evgeny Svechnikov and Eric Tangradi on injured reserve.

The Red Wings have reduced their roster to 24 players (13 forwards, eight defensemen, three goaltenders) in advance of the team's season-opener against the Minnesota Wild at 7:30 on Thursday, Oct. 5 at the state-of-the-art Little Caesars Arena.
