DETROIT -- The Red Wings will kick off the month of December with a variety of activities in the community. The 14th Annual Motor City Mitten Madness clothing collection will take place on December 4 (vs. Vancouver) at Joe Louis Arena. Doors open at 6:30 p.m. for the 7:30 p.m. game.
Together with the Detroit Receiving Hospital Burn Center, the Wings are asking fans attending those games to donate new or gently used blankets, gloves, hats, scarves and other winter wear items to collection bins at Joe Louis Arena. The items will be distributed to Detroit area shelters and warming centers to aid in the prevention of frostbite among the homeless. Monetary donations will also be accepted.
Each donor at the two games will receive a raffle ticket for a chance to win autographed Red Wings memorabilia. One winner will be announced at each game and must be present to win.
Holiday Hospital Visit Scheduled For Wednesday On Wednesday, December 3, the Red Wings will bring some holiday cheer to the patients of Children’s Hospital of Michigan. The team will visit Children’s Hospital shortly after practice, arriving at approximately 1:15 p.m. A tradition for more than 20 years, the Red Wings will hand out gift cards, Inside Hockeytown magazines and other child friendly Wings memorabilia during the visit.
