“You killed him!”
“Well duh, what part of sudden death didn’t you understand?”

There are two ping-pong tables that live outside the Red Wings locker room at Joe Louis Arena. They have become an after-practice favorite for players looking to unwind in a lighthearted, but competitive way.

There was a rumor floating around yesterday that a few Nashville Predators players wanted to play on the tables and Todd Bertuzzi offered up a little bit of series gamesmanship by telling them to get their own table.

Mike Babcock was questioned about it during his morning press conference, cracking an ear-to-ear grin before asking if it really happened.

“No,” said a voice in the room.

Babcock also said that this time of year, stories like that tend to get blown out of proportion.
