DETROIT -- Dan Cleary broke a tie with a short-handed goal in the second period, and Dominik Hasek made 34 saves to help the Red Wings beat the Minnesota Wild 3-1 on Friday night.

Stephane Veilleux scored for Minnesota, and Manny Fernandez stopped 22 shots. The Wild are 0-7-1 in their last eight road games.
Detroit scored twice in the second period.
Cleary made it 2-1 at 9:10. With Kris Draper in the penalty box for holding, Cleary put a one-time shot from the slot past Fernandez for his 14th goal. The Minnesota goalie flubbed a pass, allowing Johan Franzen
to pick the puck up behind the Wild net.
Lidstrom made it 3-1 with 1:47 left in the period, beating Fernandez with a slap shot from the high slot for his ninth goal.
Zetterberg opened the scoring with a wraparound goal 4 minutes into the game. But Minnesota tied it on Veilleux' goal with 5:10 left in the first period, when his shot from about 50 feet deflected off the skate of the Wings' Chris Chelios and then bounced over Hasek's blocker.
Game notes: Detroit D Mathieu Schneider had an assist to stretch his point streak to 12 games. He has two goals and 13 assists during the streak, the longest in the NHL this season. It also is the longest streak by a defenseman since Brian Leetch's 14-game run in 1996-97. ... This is the first of three consecutive games for Detroit against Minnesota. The teams are scheduled to play in Minnesota on Saturday night and in Detroit again on Wednesday. The Wild play Toronto on Tuesday night ...
