DETROIT – As part of the Detroit Red Wings’ Breast Cancer Awareness Week presented by Team Rehab, Advisor to Hockey Operations and U.S. Hockey Hall of Fame defenseman Chris Chelios will sign autographs on Thursday, Oct. 25, from 5:00 – 7:00 p.m. at Hockeytown Authentics in Troy, Mich., to raise money for two local cancer centers.
By making a $20 donation by cash or check, fans can get one personal item signed by Chelios and a limited-edition Red Wings soccer-style breast cancer awareness scarf while supplies last. Proceeds from the event will benefit both the Barbara Ann Karmanos Cancer Institute (Weisberg Cancer Treatment Center in Farmington Hills) and St. John Providence Health System (Liggett Breast Center in Grosse Pointe) to help uninsured and underinsured women defray the costs of diagnostic screening as well as supporting breast cancer treatment and care at the two cancer centers.
Wristbands for Thursday’s autograph signing will be issued at Hockeytown Authentics starting at 11:30 a.m. A maximum of 500 wristbands will be handed out prior to 5:00 p.m. and those who receive wristbands may begin to line up for the autograph signing no earlier than 4:00 p.m. A wristband will get fans one autograph from Chelios. Fans can purchase additional scarves for $15 apiece.
