Chelios sets another NHL longevity mark

by Staff Writer / Detroit Red Wings
DETROIT -- On Tuesday, Red Wings defenseman Chris Chelios, the NHL's oldest player at 46, played in his 880th regular-season victory -- the most of any player in league history -- when Detroit shutout the Columbus Blue Jackets, 3-0 at Joe Louis Arena.

Chelios, who will turn 47 on Jan. 25, broke a tie with hall of famer and former New Jersey defenseman Scott Stevens.

It was Chelios' fifth game of the season.
