by Dave Burke / Detroit Red Wings
By The Numbers will highlight the Red Wings on-ice accomplishments in the 2010-11 season. Each week during the off-season, By The Numbers will profile a different player on the team, focusing on their statistical highs. This week we focus on forward Valtteri Filppula.

The number of game-winning goals scored: Oct. 19 at Chicago; Nov. 5 at Edmonton; Nov. 26 at Columbus; Nov. 28 vs. Columbus; and Jan. 26 vs. New Jersey.

Played in his 300th career regular-season game at Calgary Nov. 3. The Wings pulled out a 2-1 win, and Filppula had a plus-2 rating.

Games missed with a lower body injury, but then returned when the Wings took on the Sabres in Buffalo in a 3-2 win.  Filppula was a plus one in the game.

Career assists for Filppula.  He collected it in the season finale against Chicago in the 4-3 win, assisting on Drew Miller's third period goal.

His 13.9 shooting percentage was third best among regulars on the Red Wings only behind Pavel Datsyuk (16.8) and Tomas Holmstrom (14.4).

Filppula has quickly become known around the league as a very deft defensive forward and showed it once again with 50 takeaways for the Red Wings, third only to Zetterberg (54) and Datsyuk (71).
