By the Numbers will highlight the Red Wings' on-ice accomplishments in the 2019-20 season. Each week during the offseason, By the Numbers will profile a different player on the team, focusing on his statistical highs. This week we focus on defenseman Trevor Daley.

Most likely Trevor Daley's only regret in his time with the Red Wings is that he couldn't manage to stay healthy in the last two seasons of his three-year contract.

In 2017-18, Daley played 77 games, scoring nine goals and seven assists while providing a veteran presence on the blueline.

During his time in Detroit, Daley played in his 1,000th NHL game and mentored many young defensemen like Filip Hronek, Madison Bowey and Gustav Lidstrom.

Daley, who has played 16 NHL seasons, turns 37 on Oct. 9, is heading into unrestricted free agency.

This past season was cut short by the COVID-19 pandemic and the subsequent decision to forego the remainder of the regular season and shift to a 24-team playoff, of which the Wings were not a part.

Daley could decide to try to continue his playing career with a new team.

Normally, free agents can sign deals starting July 1, which comes shortly after the draft.

This year's NHL Entry Draft is tentatively set for Oct. 9-10 so free agents will likely be able to sign contracts sometime after that.

Since the end of the Wings' season, Daley has joined forces with several other Black players -- Akim Aliu, Evander Kane, Anthony Duclair, Matt Dumba, Nazem Kadri, Wayne Simmonds, Chris Stewart and Joel Ward -- to form the Hockey Diversity Alliance (HDA) with the mission of eradicating racism and intolerance in hockey.

If Daley decides he wants to retire from playing, there's no doubt that teams would be interested in him as a coach or front office member if he were interested.

43- For the second straight season, Daley was limited by injuries to just 43 games. During the 2018-19 season, he played 44 games.

150- On Feb. 6 at Buffalo, Daley played in his 150th game with the Red Wings, a 4-3 shootout win. Daley had the first assist on Dylan Larkin's goal at 4:23 of the first period, which gave Detroit a 1-0 lead.

1,050 - On Feb. 18 against the Montreal Canadiens at Little Caesars Arena, Daley played in his 1,050th career game, a 4-3 victory. He finished the season with 1,058 career games.

2- For the first time since the 2016-17 season when he was with the Pittsburgh Penguins, Daley had two power-play points. With the Penguins, he had four in 56 games. Larkin and Tyler Bertuzzi were tied for the team lead in that category with 14 apiece. On Jan. 22 at Minnesota, Daley had two assists in his 28th career multi-point game.

37 - Daley had 37 shots this past season. Larkin led the team with 223.
