By The Numbers will highlight the Red Wings on-ice accomplishments in the 2015-16 season. Each week during the off-season, By The Numbers will profile a different player on the team, focusing on their statistical highs. This week we focus on center Pavel Datsyuk.

Datsyuk, who turns 38 this summer, is the last remaining player from the 2002 Stanley Cup champions still playing. But that could end as Datsyuk is considering retiring from the NHL and returning home to Russia.

Datsyuk is playing for Team Russia in the world championships and has said he will make a final decision about his future after the tournament.

Datysuk said he remembered watching as Steve Yzerman and Nick Lidstrom made their decisions to retire.

"When they are leaving I thought they were in really good shape," Datsyuk said. "They can play more. Now I am in similar situation but always remember this good moment."

40 – Datsyuk is the NHL record holder for most two-goal games without a hat trick in the regular season. Datsyuk has scored a hat trick in the playoffs, on May 12, 2008, at Dallas. Second on the list is former Wings defenseman Larry Murphy, who had 28 two-goal games without a hat trick.

171 – Any team could have drafted Datsyuk but it was the Wings who selected him in the sixth round, 171st overall, in the 1998 NHL draft. The player the Wings took with their first-round pick in that draft, 25th overall, was defenseman Jiri Fischer, now the Wings' director of player development.

7 – In his career, Datsyuk has won seven NHL awards, three Frank J. Selke trophies as top defensive forward and four Lady Byng Memorial trophies for sportsmanship and gentlemanly conduct. Datsyuk won the Lady Byng in four consecutive seasons from 2005-06 to 2008-09. Datsyuk won the Selke three straight seasons from 2007-08 to 2009-10.

41 – In the 2007-08 season, Datsyuk had the highest plus-minus rating in the league at plus-41. He was pretty close in the season before at plus-36 and the season following at plus-34. Datsyuk has had just one minus season, minus-2 in 75 games in the 2003-04 season.

4 – Datsyuk became the fourth player in Wings history to collect 300 goals, 600 assists and 900 points in his career. He joins Hockey Hall of Fame members Gordie Howe, Steve Yzerman and Alex Delvecchio. Datsyuk scored his 300th goal on Nov. 25 against the Boston Bruins, his 900th point on February 14 against Boston and his 600th assist on March 26 against the Pittsburgh Penguins.

14 – Datsyuk just finished his 14th NHL season. He has played 953 games, scoring 314 goals and 604 assists with a plus-249 rating.
