By the Numbers will highlight the Red Wings' on-ice accomplishments in the 2019-20 season. Each week during the offseason, By the Numbers will profile a different player on the team, focusing on his statistical highs. This week we focus on center Luke Glendening.

The year started off on a really good note for Red Wings center Luke Glendening as he was named an alternate captain for the first time, joining fellow alternates Dylan Larkin, Justin Abdelkader and Frans Nielsen.
Glendening also had a goal and an assist in Detroit's season-opening win in Nashville.
But things went downhill quickly after top defenseman Danny DeKeyser got injured and many others joined him in sick bay, including Glendening for a time.
Very few players had outstanding individual seasons and that was reflected in the team's overall struggles.
Although not counted on for huge offensive production, the always accountable Glendening said after the season that he was disappointed in himself and vowed to work even harder during the extended offseason.
That will be a tough challenge as Glendening is always one of the team's hardest workers, especially in the gym.
This upcoming season, whenever it begins, will mark the end of Glendening's four-year, $7.2 million contract.
He will then be an unrestricted free agent.
