By The Numbers will highlight the Red Wings on-ice accomplishments in the 2011-12 season. Each week during the off-season, By The Numbers will profile a different player on the team, focusing on their statistical highs. This week we focus on forward Jan Mursak.

One of only two Slovenia-born players to ever play in the NHL, he has played 44 total games with the Wings since getting his NHL debut in Dec. 2010.

Had an assist in two of his first three games with the Wings after recovering from a fractured ankle that sidelined him for the first three months of the regular-season.

Scored his only goal of the season in the third period of a 5-2 victory over Columbus on Feb. 28.

In 25 regular-season games this year, he blocked 11 shots. His average of .44 shots blocked per game ties for third highest on the team among forwards.

Number of hits the forward delivered to opposing players this season.

Among Red Wings players who played in 25 or more games during the 2011-12 season, he was the only one to finish the season without receiving a single penalty.
