By The Numbers: Gustav Nyquist

by Bill Roose / Detroit Red Wings

By The Numbers will highlight the Red Wings on-ice accomplishments during the first half of the 2015-16 season. For the next few days By The Numbers will profile a different player on the team, focusing on their statistical highs. Here is a look at forward Gustav Nyquist.

The equal number of goals as assists produced in the first 49 games this season. That’s six goals and five assists off of his pace from last season. Though, so far, he’s third on the team in goals and fifth in assists.

For the second straight season leads the team in power-play goals. Scored team-high 14 power-play goals in 2014-15. This season, the Wings are 3-1-2 when Nyquist scores a power-play goal. This season’s wins have come against Tampa Bay (Oct. 13), Ottawa (Oct. 31) and Arizona (Jan. 14). Detroit was 10-0-3 when Nyquist scored a PPG in 2014-15.

Number of hits he’s been credited with through 49 games this season. Last season he had 43 hits in 82 games. He had season-high four hits in the Wings’ 3-1 loss to Carolina on Oct. 27.

Game-winning goals to give him 13 for his career. He posted a career-high six GWG in 2013-14. Nyquist is currently among three Wings with three or more game winners this season. The others are Dylan Larkin (5) and Justin Abdelkader (3).

He’s the Red Wings’ current iron man in consecutive games played. Nyquist hasn’t missed playing time since a groin injury sidelined him for three games between Dec.17-21, 2013. He is the only Wing who has played in every game since the start of last season.

The number of shots produced while on the power play. That’s second on the team only to Henrik Zetterberg (30). That gives Nyquist the highest shooting percentage (27.3) on the team’s power play.
