DETROIT - Red Wings forward
Anthony Mantha
was shot out of a cannon to start the 2019-20 season, earning seven points in the club's first two games, helping the Wings jump out to an early 2-0 record and providing a glimpse of his eye-popping potential when he gets hot.

When he's healthy, Mantha has proven to be a top-line forward for the Red Wings, rounding out an exciting combination with linemates Tyler Bertuzzi and Dylan Larkin. But similar to 2018-19, Mantha was plagued by injuries last season, forcing him to miss extended time on two separate occasions.
When he was in the lineup, Mantha was as productive as ever, earning 38 points last season, which was third-most on the club, trailing only Larkin's 53 points and Bertuzzi's 48.
The 26-year-old Longueuil, Quebec native finished his fourth full NHL season in 2019-20 after being drafted 20th overall by the Red Wings in 2013, and the Wings' front office has high hopes for the 6-foot-5, 234-pound winger moving forward.
Red Wings executive vice president and general manager Steve Yzerman showed his confidence in Mantha on Tuesday, signing the restricted free agent to a four-year contract.
2024 - The last year of Mantha's new contract. He's now on his third contract after making his NHL debut in March 2016.
250 - Mantha played in his 250th NHL game on February 16 against the Pittsburgh Penguins. He finished the season with 260 career games under his belt.
28 - Games Mantha missed this past season due to injury. He missed eight games after suffering a knee injury on November 23, 2019 against the New Jersey Devils. Four games after he returned, Mantha suffered a rib injury and punctured lung against the Toronto Maple Leafs on December 21, 2019, sidelining him for 20 games.

7 - Points Mantha accrued in the first two days of the 2019-20 season. He earned three points in the Wings' 5-3 season-opening win against the Nashville Predators on October 5, 2019 and he earned four points the very next night in a 4-0 win against the Dallas Stars.

4 - Mantha scored four goals in the second game of the season against the Stars. The four goals were a career-high for Mantha in a single game.
3 - Mantha's three game-winning goals last season tied for the most in his career. He earned game winners against the Stars on October 7, 2019 as part of his four-goal performance, against the Montreal Canadiens on October 10, 2019 and against the Vegas Golden Knights on November 10, 2019.
.88 - Points per game Mantha earned last season, the most of his career. His points per game in 2019-20 were .17 more than he scored per game in any of his four full NHL seasons.
