By the Numbers will highlight the Red Wings' on-ice accomplishments in the 2019-20 season. Each week during the offseason, By the Numbers will profile a different player on the team, focusing on his statistical highs. This week we focus on forward Adam Erne.

It was a little over a year ago that the Red Wings traded their fourth-round pick in the 2020 NHL Entry Draft to the Tampa Bay Lightning for forward Adam Erne, one of Steve Yzerman's first trades as general manager.
Because the Lightning had so many good, young forwards ahead of Erne, the thought was he could have more of an opportunity in Detroit on a rebuilding team.
Erne is still young, having just turned 25 on April 20, so he can still develop into the player the Lightning envisioned when they took him with their second-round pick, 33td overall in the 2013 draft.
It was a pivotal year for Erne, not just because he changed teams, he also became a father when his daughter, Riley, was born on Jan. 7.

In July, Erne and his wife, Elodie, announced that Riley will become a big sister this coming January as they are expecting a baby boy.

Erne joins Tyler Bertuzzi, Anthony Mantha, Dmytro Timashov, Brendan Perlini and Christoffer Ehn as Detroit's unrestricted free agent forwards this offseason. Robby Fabbri signed a two-year extension on Aug. 24.

56 - Erne played in 56 games for the Wings in his first year with the team. During the 2018-19 season, he played 65 games for the Lightning.

2 - In those 56 games, Erne scored two goals, both of them coming Dec. 17 in a 5-3 home loss to the Columbus Blue Jackets. The first goal came at 5:11 of the first, assisted by Frans Nielsen and Perlini. The second was also in the first, at 17:17, and was assisted by Luke Glendening and Madison Bowey.
3- Erne also chipped in three assists. The first happened on Jan. 7 in a 4-3 home win over the Montreal Canadiens when Erne had the primary assist on Filip Zadina's game-winner at 16:08 of the third. The second was the lone assist on Perlini's goal at 2:07 of the second in a 3-1 home victory over the Boston Bruins. The last one was the lone assist on Nielsen's goal at 3:59 of the first period in a 4-3 shootout loss at Ottawa.

60.6 - Although Erne did not take very many face-offs, 33 total, he was successful when he did as he had a 60.6 face-off win percentage.
11:49 - Erne averaged 11:49 of ice time, which was a new career high. His previous high was 11:48, which came in the 2016-17 season with the Lightning.
