DETROIT – The Detroit Red Wings and the Detroit Red Wings Foundation announced today that the camouflage jerseys worn by the players during tonight’s pregame warmups in honor of Military Appreciation Night at Joe Louis Arena are now being auctioned at www.DetroitRedWings.com/camojerseyauction with proceeds benefiting the Detroit Red Wings Foundation.
The online auction is currently underway and will run through Friday, Nov. 21.The authentic camouflage jerseys can be signed by the respective player or alumnus who wore the jersey at the discretion of the auction winner.
Red Wings alumnus Mickey Redmond’s camouflage jersey is also being auctioned off. Redmond will wear the jersey on-air during warmups on tonight’s broadcast on Fox Sports Detroit. The Red Wings television analyst also wore the camo jersey on-air during the second intermission of the Red Wings game on Oct. 31.
The funds raised from the online auction of the camouflage jerseys, as well as the clearance sale during tonight’s Military Appreciation Night game, will support Help For Our Disabled Troops’ efforts to renovate the family room of Gary Thompson of St. Clair Shores, who is battling cancer as a result of his service overseas. This renovation will allow him to comfortably recover from treatment and enjoy quality time with his family. Thompson is attending tonight’s game as a guest of defenseman Danny DeKeyser through DeKeyser’s Hometown Heroes charity ticket program and will meet with him following the game.
