DETROIT - The Red Wings haven't been the highest-scoring team this season, especially compared to the Pittsburgh Penguins.

But none of that seemed to matter Saturday night at Joe Louis Arena as the Wings rallied from an 0-2 deficit for a 6-3 victory over the Penguins.

Jared Coreau, making his first home start, made 28 saves for his fourth NHL victory.

1. Andreas Athanasiou : If you have not seen Athanasiou's goal, you won't have to look far to find it as it has already gone viral. Athanasiou picked up the puck in his own end and carried it the length of the ice, finally beating both defenseman Justin Schultz and goaltender Marc-Andre Fleury for his ninth goal of the season at 1:46 of the third period. It is Athanasiou's fourth goal in his last five games since being benched for one game. The goal ended up being the game-winner.

Quotable: "I picked up the puck and saw some open ice so I just took the open ice and coming over the blue line I saw it was a one-on-one, made a move and it worked out. It's always a nice feeling watching the puck go in the open net. In a 3-3 game like that, against a good team, it's definitely a feel-good moment." - Athanasiou

Quotable II: "It's a big goal kind of out of nothing. The one thing Double-A has is he's got the ability to break people down and score goals on his own. Obviously he took it end to end and scored a goal on his own. It's hard to score goals in this league and when you get somebody that can self-create and do it on his own, it's a big thing." - Wings coach Jeff Blashill

2. Thomas Vanek : Since getting back together with center Frans Nielsen, Vanek has been working his playmaking magic. At 13:28 of the second, Vanek went to the net and scored from in front as Justin Abdelkader sent the puck from behind the net. Vanek then assisted on Nielsen's goal that tied the game at 3 with 53.1 seconds left in the second. Vanek is tied with Anthony Mantha and Dylan Larkin for the team lead in goals with 11.

Quotable: "We knew it was a great signing this summer and he's been really playing well for us all year. He's one of those guys who creates a lot out of nothing. He's got poise with the puck and you need that these days." - Wings captain Henrik Zetterberg

3. Frans Nielsen/Mike Green: Nielsen got the perfect pass from Mike Green and tapped it home past Fleury late in the second period for a momentum-building, game-tying goal. Green got his own goal at 11:51 of the third with two seconds left on the power play, making it a 5-3 lead. The Wings have scored on the power play in back-to-back games.

Quotable: "I think Greener's been a No. 1 defenseman for us throughout the year until he got hurt there. That's a big piece of your puzzle that was missing there for a stretch of time. I think he's still getting his game back to the level when he left. He did some excellent things tonight, but I think there's still part of his game is going to be better. I thought he was playing an excellent, excellent rate when he left. Having him in the lineup is a real positive and as he continues to grow his game, being back in after missing quite a bit of time, he'll be even better for us." - Blashill
