Alumni playing in Alpena

by Staff Writer / Detroit Red Wings
Alpena, MI – The Detroit Red Wing Alumni Association will once again be partnering with the Alpena Boosters Club with a fundraising hockey game in Alpena. The Alumni Team will be squaring off against the Alpena Flyers on February 18 at Northern Lights Arena with the opening puck drop at 3:00 p.m.

Proceeds from the game support the Wings Over Alpena air show, scheduled for August 18 this year. "The Alumni Association plays a big role in our fundraising efforts every year." says Andy White, air show chairman, "There are many worthy organizations trying to raise money - the game gives us a unique way to raise funds for the show and people really enjoy attending".  In addition to seeing some Red Wing and Alpena hockey legends, fans will also be able to get their picture taken with the Stanley Cup, Darren McCarty, Joe Kocur and Ted Lindsay.
Information on Wings Over Alpena can be found at The show is free to the public and will be paying tribute to Korean War Veterans this year.
