Adoptable Animals join 'Dollar Dog Night' at JLA

by Anne Marie Krappmann / Detroit Red Wings
DETROIT -- The Red Wings are going to the dogs on Saturday, December 15, in the first “Dally’s Dogs Night.”

Wings forward Dallas Drake is collaborating with local animal shelters to promote the adoption of needy animals. Adoptable dogs from the Dearborn Animal Shelter will be on the concourse at Joe Louis Arena during the game against the Florida Panthers. Doors open at 5:30 p.m. for the 7 p.m. game.

Representatives from the shelter will be on hand to answer questions regarding animal adoption and fans that make a monetary donation to the shelter will have a chance to win an autographed Drake jersey.

An advocate of animal adoption, Drake is volunteering his time at the Dearborn Animal Shelter and lending his name to assist the shelter in raising awareness and funds for their organization.

The Friends For the Dearborn Animal Shelter (FFDAS) was formed in 1993 by a small group of people who wanted to improve the conditions for the animals at the shelter and promote their adoption into loving homes. FFDAS is a private, non-profit organization dedicated to helping homeless and owned animals.

Saturday’s game also concludes the Wings Dollar Dog Nights for 2007 when fans attending the game can purchase hot dogs for just $1.
