by Staff Writer / Detroit Red Wings
DETROIT -- The Detroit Red Wings are proud to announce the release of the team's newest calendar, the 2006 Canine Companions for Independence calendar. The 12-month calendar offers fans the opportunity to take an inside look at members of the team with some furry friends. Calendars will be available at tonight's game vs. Calgary Flames game at Joe Louis Arena.

Photos include Kris Draper and Mikael Samuelsson posing with dogs in training from Canine Companions for Independence as well as Jiri Fischer, Mathieu Schneider, Brendan Shanahan and Jason Williams showing off their personal pooches.

The calendar sells for $15, and makes a great holiday gift. Proceeds from the calendar will benefit Canine Companions for Independence which provides assistance dogs to the disabled, and Ilitch Charities for Children, which assists children in southeastern Michigan in the areas of health, education and recreation. The calendar is available at Joe Louis Arena, Hockeytown Authentics in Troy as well as by calling 1-800-WINGS-25.
