Hartford Wolf Pack General Manager Don Maloney announced today the Pack's schedule format for the upcoming 2003-04 American Hockey League season. The schedule of dates will be announced later in the summer, but the number of games each specific team will play against one another has been finalized.
Under the AHL's new conference and divisional alignment, the Wolf Pack will meet Atlantic Division adversaries, and traditional rivals, Springfield and Providence ten times each (five home, five road). They will also play a total of five home and five road contests against their Connecticut neighbors the Bridgeport Sound Tigers. The Pack meet their other divisional foes, Worcester, Portland, Lowell and Manchester, eight times each (four home, four road).
"This schedule, and the new divisional alignment, is really going to add to our New England rivalries," Maloney said. "We'll be back in the same division as Providence and Worcester, and even though Bridgeport is not in our division any more, we'll still play them ten times. Also, it's going to be great for the team because travel should be so easy, with the majority of our road games inside the New England area."
Hartford will clash with four Western Conference teams, meeting Utah four times (two home, two road) and Houston, the defending Calder Cup champions, and San Antonio twice each (one home, one road). The remainder of the schedule will be one home and one road game each vs. East Division opponents Albany, Hershey, Philadelphia, Wilkes-Barre/Scranton and Norfolk.
