Hartford Wolf Pack General Manager Al Coates announced today that the team has released defenseman Anders Myrvold from his Professional Try-Out Agreement (PTO) and that the parent New York Rangers have reassigned blueliner Matt Kinch (right) from Charlotte of the East Coast Hockey League to Hartford.
In 19 games with the Wolf Pack, Myrvold notched three goals and three assists for six points, with 28 penalty minutes and an Even plus/minus rating. Kinch began the year with the Pack, contributing two assists in twelve games (4 PIM), before being reassigned to Charlotte November 20. In 20 ECHL games, Kinch was the Checkers' second-highest scorer among defensemen, tallying 3-10-13, with 11 PIM. The rookie out of the Western Hockey League was the leading-scoring defenseman in the WHL last season with the Calgary Hitmen, rolling up 18-66-84 in 70 games. The Rangers signed Kinch as a free agent June 12.
The Wolf Pack return to home-ice action tonight, hosting the Lowell Lock Monsters (top affiliate of the Carolina Hurricanes) at the Hartford Civic Center (7:05 PM faceoff). The Worcester IceCats are in town on Saturday evening (7:05), and the Hershey Bears make their only regular-season visit of the season to the Civic Center on Sunday (5:05). At Saturday's game, the first 2,002 kids 12 and under into the game will receive a Sonar bobblehead doll, courtesy of Hartford Dental and Brite Smile.
