New York Rangers President and General Manager Glen Sather announced today that goaltender Kevin Weekes has been placed on injured reserve retroactive to November 25, 2005 due to an ankle contusion he suffered on November 24 at Atlanta. In addition, right wing Jed Ortmeyer has been granted non-roster status by the National Hockey League due to family obligations and will be eligible to play again on Saturday, December 3. Both players will not be in uniform for tomorrow's game against the Pittsburgh Penguins at Madison Square Garden. Game time is set for 7:00 PM.
Weekes, who missed the game on November 26 vs. Washington due to injury, has appeared in 12 games this season, posting a 7-4-1 record along with a 2.79 goals against average and a .898 save percentage.
Ortmeyer has skated in 26 games with the Rangers this season, registering four goals and two assists, along with a plus-six rating.
