The Vancouver Canucks announced today that they have signed free agent goaltender Peter Skudra.
The 28-year-old began the season with Hartford of the American Hockey League (AHL), posting a 2-1-0 record, along with a 2.69 GAA and a .920 save percentage.
Skudra was invited to Rangers Training Camp in September on a try-out basis. He signed a professional try-out agreement following camp.
Skudra likely will fill the backup role in Vancouver, replacing rookie Martin Brochu, who is 0-3-0 with a 4.16 goals-against average in six appearances this season.
Skudra has played for Pittsburgh, Buffalo and Boston, appearing in 100 NHL games, compiling a 32-34-12 record with four career shutouts.
