Tripp Heads West; Signs with Los Angeles

The Los Angeles Kings have signed unrestricted free agent right wing John Tripp to a one-year contract, Kings Senior Vice President/General Manager Dave Taylor announced today.

Tripp, 26, made his NHL debut in 2002-03 and played in nine games with the New York Rangers, recording three points (one goal, two assists) and two penalty minutes.

The 6-3, 223-pounder from Kingston, Ontario, also played in 57 regular season games with the Hartford Wolf Pack of the American Hockey League (AHL), collecting 50 points (29 goals, 21 assists) and 68 penalty minutes.

Originally selected by the Colorado Avalanche in the third round (77th overall) of the 1995 NHL Entry Draft, Tripp signed with the Wolf Pack on September 3, 2002, before agreeing to an NHL deal with the Rangers on January 7, 2003.
