Staal gets first taste of pro hockey in Hartford

Rangers President and General Manager Glen Sather announced today that defenseman Marc Staal has been reassigned to the Hartford Wolf Pack of the American Hockey League (AHL).

Staal, 19, was recalled by the Rangers on Friday, April 14, and did not dress in Saturday's game at Philadelphia. Prior to his recall, he skated in 57 games with the Sudbury Wolves of the Ontario Hockey League (OHL), registering 11 goals and 38 assists for 49 points, along with 60 penalty minutes.

The native of Thunder Bay, Ontario ranked third on the team with 38 assists and ranked fourth on the team in scoring with 49 points. In eight postseason games with the Wolves, Staal tied for first on the team with eight assists and ranked third on the team in points (eight).
