Sam: What I Like so Far; JD: No Reason to Panic

In their latest take on the Rangers, MSG Network's Sam Rosen discusses what he likes so far about this Rangers team.

" ... I like the fact that Mikael Samuelsson is shooting the puck a little bit more. I like the way Brian Leetch has skated and joined the play when it's there. I think he and Tom Poti are still finding their way together as a defensive pair. Mark Messier's been fired up. I think he's shown that he can still skate, he still has the legs, and his two goals in the first game were a very positive sign ..."

MSG Network color analyst John Davidson says that after two straight losses over the weekend, it was way too early for fans to press the panic button.

" ... You certainly don't like to look for excuses, but there were a lot of circumstances that contributed to the losses to Montreal and in Pittsburgh. For starters, Eric Lindros was serving a high-sticking suspension Saturday, Pavel Bure missed the first three games nursing strep throat, Radek Dvorak played three games in four nights after coming off major knee surgery and missing a good portion of camp, Mark Messier also skated in all three games in the four-night span and Dan Blackburn missed his first start with a dislocated finger. All these factors add up, but it will only get better ..."
