Rucinsky activated from injured reserve

by Staff Writer / New York Rangers

Martin Rucinsky and Steve Rucchin are both expected to return to the lineup for tonight's game against Pittsburgh at Madison Square Garden, while Kevin Weekes, Jed Ortmeyer and Tom Poti, will all miss tonight's contest.

Rucinsky was activated from the injured reserve today, after missing 14 games with an MCL sprain in his left knee. Rucchin has been out for the last two games with a lower back strain.

Weekes, who was placed on injured reserve yesterday, remains day-to-day with an ankle contusion that he suffered on Nov. 24 at Atlanta. Ortmeyer will miss tonight's game after the NHL granted him non-roster status yesterday due to family obligations. He will be eligible to play again on Saturday, December 3. Poti is currently out day-to-day after suffering a groin strain on November 26 vs. Washington.

Rangers President and General Manager Glen Sather also announced today that defenseman Dale Purinton has been recalled from the Hartford Wolf Pack of the American Hockey League (AHL).

Purinton, 29, has appeared in seven games with the Wolf Pack this season, registering one goal and three assists, along with 19 penalty minutes. He is currently in the midst of serving a 10-game NHL suspension with five games remaining.
