Record Day for Blueshirts in Day One

With eight selections made in Day One of the 2004 NHL Entry Draft, the New York Rangers established a franchise mark for the most selections made in the first three rounds of a Draft. The previous record of five was set in 1972 and again in 1999. Here is a look at those selections:

Bob MacMillan (C - St. Catherines, OHA) - 1st Round / 15th Overall
Larry Sacharuk (D - Saskatoon, WHL) - 2nd Round / 21st Overall
Rene Villemure (LW - Shawinigan, QMJHL) - 2nd Round / 31st Overall
Gerry Teeple (C - Cornwall, QMJHL) - 3rd Round / 48th Overall

1999 NHL DRAFT (5):
Pavel Brendl (RW - Calgary, WHL) - 1st Round / 4th Overall
Jamie Lundmark (C - Moose Jaw, WHL) - 1st Round / 9th Overall
