Rangers Youth Hockey Camp: Week 4 Day 3

On Ice AM Sessions: In the morning session, players learned about passing. Players participated in pass and shoot, redirects and rebounds drills. To end the session players got to play odd man situation games to stress the importance of passing and finding the open man. Goalies learned how they should react to rebounds and position themselves correctly.

On Ice PM Sessions: New York Rangers Alumni Ron Greschner joined players for today’s afternoon session. Players practiced tip-ins, deflections and rebounds during this session. Another topic taught during this session was puck protection. To end the session players played in a 3 on 3 games where you could only score from a tip-in. Goalies learned about how to cut off angles from all sides of the ice.

Classroom: Presented by Kumon; in today’s classroom players learned about the different types of exercise and why exercise is important in living a healthy lifestyle. Players also learned about rest, recovery, how much sleep they should be getting each night and how it’s important to take care of their body.

Dynamic Training: Today’s dynamic training session focused on speed and acceleration. The players started of learning about stretches that focus on the lower body. Then the players did sprints where one player got a head start and the next player had to catch up to them. They had different variations of the players starting stance such as, 2 point stance, in a push up position and laying on their back.
