Rangers Youth Hockey Camp: Week 3 Day 3

by Staff Writer / New York Rangers

On Ice AM Sessions: During today’s morning session, players got to practice quick puck movements. Players participated in a few drills that concentrated on one touch passes and give and go’s. Players also got a chance to practice shooting off the pass and one timers.

On Ice PM Sessions: New York Rangers Alumni Brian Mullen joined players during today’s afternoon session. Players practiced what they should do after the shot has been taken, such as deflections, rebound and tip-ins. The session ended with a few odd-man situation games that focused on finding the open player.

Dynamic Training: Players started with a drill where they jumped off one foot and landed on the other while moving down the field. This helped them practice on exploding out of a standstill while developing their balance. Players then split up into two stations where they did push up and sit up circuits in one and shuffling and running around the cones in the other.

Classroom Presented by Kumon: Today’s classroom session focused on the importance of being hydrated while living an active lifestyle. Players learned different signs that tell you if you are hydrated or not and the consequences of being dehydrated especially while playing sports.
