New York Rangers President and General Manager Glen Sather announced today that the club has traded defenseman Mike Mottau
to the Calgary Flames in exchange for a conditional draft choice.
Mottau, 24, has spent this season with the Hartford Wolf Pack of the American Hockey League (AHL), appearing in 29 matches and registering one goal and 16 assists for 17 points, along with 24 penalty minutes. He missed 16 games due to a knee injury.
The 6-0, 193-pounder has skated in 19 career matches with the Rangers, registering three assists, along with 13 penalty minutes.
A native of Quincy, Massachusetts, Mottau was originally drafted by the Rangers as their seventh round choice, 182nd overall, in the 1997 NHL Entry Draft.
