Rangers To Honor Gold Medal Figure Skater Sarah Hughes

by Staff Writer / New York Rangers

Olympic figure skating Gold Medalist Sarah Hughes will be honored prior to today's game vs. Philadelphia. Hughes will participate in a ceremonial face-off prior to the start of the game.

Hughes has a long association with the Rangers, dating back to 1993 when she began skating during intermissions of games at Madison Square Garden at the age of seven. Sarah has performed several times at MSG between 1994 and 1999.

Questionable weather has forced the postponement of Sunday's planned parade in Great Neck to honor Hughes. Great Neck officials say the parade has been rescheduled from March 3 to March 10. The parade is being sponsored by Cablevision, the Rangers and News 12 Long Island.
