Rangers Recall Two from Hartford; Reassign Scott

Rangers President and General Manager Glen Sather announced today that forwards Mikael Samuelsson and Steve McKenna (right) have been recalled from Hartford (AHL). In addition, right winger Richard Scott has been reassigned to Hartford (AHL) and right winger Rico Fata has been placed on waivers.

Samuelsson, who was acquired from the San Jose Sharks along with Christian Gosselin in exchange for Adam Graves on June 24, 2001, is currently tied for second on the Wolf Pack with nine points (three goals, six assists). The right winger has also amassed 12 penalty minutes and places fourth on the club with 26 shots on goal. Samuelsson made his NHL debut with the Sharks last season, appearing in four matches.

McKenna, who signed as a free agent with New York on August 28, 2001, has appeared in three contests with Hartford this season, collecting 11 penalty minutes. The 6-8, 255-pound left winger has registered six goals and 10 assists for 16 points, along with 467 penalty minutes in 191 career NHL matches with Los Angeles, Minnesota and Pittsburgh.

Scott, who was recalled from Hartford on October 27, appeared in five games with the Blueshirts, posting five penelty minutes. In eight games with Hartford prior to his recall, the 6-2, 205-pounder amassed 57 penalty minutes.
