Rangers President and General Manager Glen Sather announced today that the team has recalled forward Dixon Ward (right), defenseman Joel Bouchard and goaltender Johan Holmqvist from Hartford of the American Hockey League (AHL).
Ward leads the Wolf Pack with 25 points (nine goals, 16 assists) in 18 games this season. The right winger has also appeared in seven games with the Rangers and has collected 95 goals and 129 assists for 224 points, along with 429 penalty minutes in 536 career NHL matches. Ward was signed as a free agent by the Rangers on October 1, 2002.
Bouchard, who also signed with the Blueshirts as a free agent, ranks fourth among Hartford players, first among Wolf Pack defensemen and sixth among AHL blueliners with 18 points (six goals, 12 assists) in 22 games. He has also tallied four power play goals and has accumulated 22 penalty minutes.
Holmqvist, New York's seventh choice (175th overall) in the 1997 NHL Entry Draft, has posted a 4-2-2 record in eight games this season with Hartford. His 2.08 goals against average ranks fifth in the AHL and his .933 save percentage places second in the league.
Following Sunday's game vs. Boston, the Rangers reassigned Ward, Bouchard, forward Roman Lyashenko and goaltender Jason LaBarbera to Hartford.
