Rangers President and General Manager Glen Sather announced today that forward Garth Murray has been recalled from the Hartford Wolf Pack of the American Hockey League (AHL).
Murray, 21, has tallied 10 goals and 10 assists for 20 points in 58 games with the Wolf Pack this season. His 133 penalty minutes leads the club.
The 6-1, 205-pounder was recalled by New York on January 29, 2004 and has appeared in four games with the Blueshirts this season. He made his Rangers/NHL debut on January 30 vs. the Buffalo Sabres at Madison Square Garden.
The Regina, Saskatchewan native tallied eight goals and 13 assists for 21 points, along with 114 penalty minutes in 59 games with Hartford last season, his first professional campaign.
Prior to his professional career, Murray played five seasons with the Regina Pats of the Western Hockey League (WHL), registering 78 goals and 77 assists for 155 points, along with 595 penalty minutes in 326 games.
Murray was New York's third round selection, 79th overall, in the 2001 NHL Entry Draft.
