New York Rangers President and General Manager Neil Smith announced today that the team has recalled left wing JOHAN WITEHALL (VEE-te-hal) from Hartford of the American Hockey League. Witehall will join the team in Atlanta.
The 6-1, 198-pound left wing has appeared in 43 games with Hartford this season, collecting seven goals and 11 assists for 18 points, along with 40 penalty minutes.
The native of Goteborg, Sweden appeared in four games with New York last season, his first in the NHL. Witehall was selected as the Rangers eight choice, 207th overall, in the 1998 NHL Entry Draft.
