Rangers President and General Manager Glen Sather announced today that the goaltender Johan Holmqvist
(right) has been recalled from the Hartford Wolf Pack of the American Hockey League (AHL). In addition, goaltender Jason LaBarbera
was reassigned to Hartford.
Holmqvist, 24, has appeared in two games with the Wolf Pack this season, posting a 0-1-1 record, along with a 2.34 goals against average and a .900 save percentage. Holmqvist has appeared in three career games with Rangers, making his NHL debut on October 27, 2000 vs. Pittsburgh.
LaBarbera, 22, has served as backup to Dan Blackburn
in each of the last four games since his recall on November 14. The netminder has appeared in 12 games with Hartford this season, posting a 6-4-2 mark, along with a 2.52 goals against average and a .921 save percentage. LaBarbera has appeared in one career NHL game, making his Blueshirt debut in relief on October 14, 2000 at Pittsburgh, stopping both shots he faced in 9:43 of work.
