New York Rangers President and General Manager Neil Smith announced today that the club has recalled goaltender Jean-Francois Labbe from Hartford of the American Hockey League (AHL).
Labbe, 27, has posted a 19-8-6 record, along with a 2.59 goals against average and a .922 save percentage in 35 games with Hartford this season. He also became the fifth goaltender in AHL history to tally a goal, notching an empty-net goal on February 5 at Quebec. Labbe has posted a 147-111-37 professional record, along with a 2.76 goals against average in 306 career matches with Hartford, Hamilton, Hershey, Cornwall and Prince Edward Island of the AHL and Thunder Bay of the Colonial Hockey League (now the United Hockey League).
The native of Sherbrooke, Quebec was signed by New York as a free agent on July 16, 1998.
