New York Rangers President and General Manager Neil Smith announced today that the club has recalled goaltender Jean-Francois Labbe from Hartford of the American Hockey League (AHL).
Labbe, 27, has compiled a 23-9-7 record, along with a 2.55 goals against average in 41 games with Hartford (AHL) this season. He became only the fifth goaltender in AHL history to tally a goal, notching an empty-net goal on February 5 at Quebec.
The 5-10, 172-pound netminder has posted a 151-112-38 professional record, along with a 2.74 goals against average in 312 career matches with Hartford, Hamilton, Hershey, Cornwall and Prince Edward Island of the AHL and Thunder Bay of the Colonial Hockey League (now the United Hockey League).
The native of Sherbrooke, Quebec was signed as a free agent by New York on July 16, 1998.
