New York Rangers President and General Manager Glen Sather announced today that the team has recalled defenseman Chris Summers from the Hartford Wolf Pack of the American Hockey League (AHL).
Summers, 27, has split the 2014-15 season between the Arizona Coyotes in the NHL and the Portland Pirates and Hartford Wolf Pack in the AHL. He has skated in 17 games with the Coyotes this season, recording three points and eight penalty minutes.
The 6-2, 209-pounder has skated in 18 AHL games this season, tallying two assists and registering 21 penalty minutes. Summers has notched an assist and has posted a plus-three rating in 10 contests with the Wolf Pack in 2014-15.
The Ann Arbor, Michigan native was acquired by the Rangers from the Coyotes, along with Keith Yandle and a fourth round pick in the 2016 NHL Entry Draft, in exchange for John Moore, Anthony Duclair, a second round pick in the 2015 NHL Entry Draft, and a conditional first round pick in the 2016 NHL Entry Draft. He was originally selected by the Coyotes in the first round, 29th overall, of the 2006 NHL Entry Draft.
