Rangers Reassign Holmqvist, Lintner to Hartford (AHL)
/ New York Rangers
The Rangers announced following today's game vs. Philadelphia that goaltender Johan Holmqvist (right) and defenseman Richard Lintner have been reassigned to Hartford of the American Hockey League. In addition, defenseman Vladimir Malakhov was activated off the Injured Reserve list after missing two games due to back spasms.
Holmqvist served as Dan Blackburn's back-up for the past two games with Mike Dunham sidelined with a mild groin strain. Holmqvist has posted a 9-10-4 mark, along with a 2.60 goals against average and a .911 save percentage in 26 AHL games with the Wolf Pack this season. The 24-year old Swedish native has also appeared in one game with New York this season, turning aside 16 of 18 shots in relief of Blackburn on December 11 vs. Chicago.
Lintner appeared in today's game vs. the Flyers, his 10th game with New York this season, netting one goal over the span. Lintner leads all Wolf Pack defensemen with 21 points (six goals, 15 assists) in 26 games.
