Rangera President, General Manager and Head Coach Glen Sather announced today that right win Jeff Heerema has been claimed off waivers by the St. Louis Blues and has been assigned to Hartford of the American Hockey League (AHL).
Heerema, 23, has skated in 22 games with St. Louis this season, collecting one goal and two assists for three points, along with four penalty minutes. He has also appeared in one game with the Worcester Ice Cats (AHL), collecting two penalty minutes.
Heerema was claimed off waivers by the Rangers earlier in the season (September 30 - from the Carolina Hurricanes) before the Blues claimed him from the Blueshirts during the NHL Waiver Draft on October 3.
The right winger has recorded six points (four goals, two assists) along with six penalty minutes in 32 career NHL games with Carolina and St. Louis.
In 112 career AHL games with Lowell and Worcester, Heerema has registered 48 goals and 54 assists for 102 points, along with 115 penalty minutes.
A native of Thunder Bay, Ontario, he was originally Carolina's first choice, 11th overall, in the 1998 NHL Entry Draft.
