Rangers Re-Assign Goaltender Johan Holmqvist to Hartford (AHL)

New York Rangers President and General Manager Glen Sather announced today that the club has assigned goaltender Johan Holmqvist to the Hartford Wolf Pack of the American Hockey League (AHL).

Holmqvist, 22, was recalled on Sunday and backed up Kirk McLean against the Washington Capitals on Monday and at New Jersey on Wednesday.

Holmqvist has appeared in two contests with New York this season, posting a 0-2-0 mark, along with a 5.04 goals against average and a .859 save percentage.

The native of Tierp, Sweden has also appeared in 39 games with the Wolf Pack this season and posted a record of 18-13-4 and a 2.94 goals-against average.
