Prospect Update: Shesterkin Captures KHL Title

Plus Gropp Advances to WHL Conference Final; Wolf Pack season wraps up

Goaltender Igor Shesterkin and SKA captured the Kontinental Hockey League's Gagarin Cup on Sunday. Shesterkin did not play in the final three games of the Final, though he did pick up a win in the series-opening game.

The 2014 fourth-round pick finished the postseason 4-1 with a .940 SV% and a 1.84 GAA after going 27-4-6 with a .937 SV% and a 1.64 GAA and eight shutouts.

Forward Ryan Gropp picked up an assist on the game-winning goal Friday night in Seattle's 4-1 victory over Everett to complete the sweep and advance to the Western Hockey League's Western Conference Final. Gropp had missed the last four games before returning on Friday, and the 2015 second-round pick has a goal and four assists in four playoff games this season.

Seattle will face Kelowna in the Conference Final.

Defenseman Sergey Zborovskiy had an assist and was a plus-5 Saturday in Regina's 5-3 win over Swift Current in Game 6 of their WHL second-round series. The 2015 third-rounder has two assists and is a plus-11 in 10 postseason games. Game 7 is set for Monday night.

Tim Gettinger's season with Sault Ste. Marie came to an end on Sunday when the Greyhounds were beaten by Owen Sound in Game 6 of the Ontario Hockey League's second-round. Gettinger finished the postseason with four goals and three assists for seven points in 11 games.

The Hartford Wolf Pack wrapped up its regular season with back-to-back losses this weekend to Utica and Springfield. Nicklas Jensen scored twice against Utica on Friday for his 31st and 32nd goals of the season. Dan Catenacci also scored while Taylor Beck and Vince Pedrie had assists.

Defensemen Michael Paliotta and John Gilmour had assists in Saturday's game.

Jensen finished the season as the team-leader in goals with 32 and points with 55. Steven Fogarty had 20 points in 66 games, while fellow rookie Cristoval 'Boo' Nieves had 18 points in 40 contests.

Ryan Graves set career-highs with 22 assists for 30 points in 76 games to lead Hartford defensemen, while rookie blueliner John Gilmour had 25 points in 76 games.

Rookie Ty Ronning had two goals and three assists in 12 games after signing an amateur tryout with the club. College free agent signees Vince Pedrie had five assists and Vinni Lettieri had one assist. 

Goaltender Magnus Hellberg led the team with 12 wins, while rookie Brandon Halverson had nine wins in 26 games. College free agent Chris Nell had one win in four games.

The Greenville Swamp Rabbits are holding a 2-0 series advantage over South Carolina in the ECHL Division Semifinal.
