Prospect Update: Gropp Scores in Wolf Pack Opener

Ryan Gropp scored his first professional goal Friday night in a 5-4 Hartford loss to Charlotte in the team's season opener. Adam Tambellini added a goal and Ryan Graves had an assist. Goaltender Alexander Georgiev had 19 saves in the loss.

Defenseman Alexei Bereglazov finished with three shots while Neal Pionk had two. 

Goaltender Tyler Wall made 25 saves for UMass-Lowell, though the River Hawks were topped by New Hampshire, 4-3, in the season-opener Friday night.

Fellow netminder Adam Huska made 29 saves for UConn, who dropped their opener to Maine, 4-3, in overtime. Prior to the game, Huska, a sophomore, was named to the 2018 Mike Richter Award watch list, which honors the most outstanding goaltender in NCAA Division 1 men's hockey. Huska is one of 20 goalies to be named to the watch list.

Defenseman Sean Day picked up an assist and was named the game's third star Friday in Windsor's 2-1 victory over Guelph in the Ontario Hockey League.

Forward Tim Gettinger continued his strong start for Sault Ste. Marie with a pair of assists and three shots on goal, as the Greyhounds topped London, 4-1. Gettinger has four goals and six assists for 10 points through seven games.

Ty Ronning had a goal, an assist and seven shots for Vancouver in its 6-3 win over Tri-City in the Western Hockey League. The 2016 seventh-round pick has four goals and five points through four games this season.
