PHOTO: Ottawa's Jakub Petruzalek tallied a goal but the 67s dropped a 3-2 decision to the Barrie Colts on Sunday in Game Five of OHL First Round action.

AMERICAN HOCKEY LEAGUE:
Hartford 5, Lowell 1
The Wolf Pack picked up three wins this weekend to make the AHL's Eastern Conference race a little tighter as the 2004-05 season approaches the home stretch. Hartford and Lowell combined for six goals and 235c penalty minutes as the Pack skated to a 5-1 win at Tsongas Arena on Sunday. Five different Pack players found the net in the win - Jeff Hamilton, Garth Murray, Jed Ortmeyer, Dominic Moore and Martin Grenier. Ortmeyer also added a pair of assists, as did Bryce Lampman, while Grenier tacked on 43 penalty minutes to his stat line. Steve Valiquette turned aside 24 of 25 shots in the win. Hartford (46-21-3-3, 98 points), which posted its eighth straight playoff berth on Saturday, sits only two points back of division/conference-leading Manchester.

Kootenay (Dawes) 7, Kamloops 1
Kootenay wins series, 4-2
Without their leader, the Kootenay Ice routed the Kamloops Blazers, 7-1, on Sunday to take their best-of-seven WHL Quarterfinals series in six games. Kootenay captain Nigel Dawes did not play for the second stright night. Dawes totaled two goals and two assists in four games of the series.

Red Deer 3, Medicine Hat (Psurny) 0
Series tied, 3-3
Roman Psurny and Medicine Hat were held scoreless on Sunday as the Red Deer Rebels evened their best-of-seven WHL Quarterfinals series with the Tigers, forcing a Game Seven on Tuesday. Psurny has posted three points (one goal, two assists) and six penalty minutes in the six games thus far.

Ottawa (Petruzalek) 2, Barrie 3
Ottawa leads series, 3-2
In Barrie, the Colts staved off elimination with a hard-fought 3-2 win over the visiting Ottawa 67s on Sunday in OHL First Round playoff action. 67s rookie forward Jakub Petruzalek netted his first goal of the post-season in the loss and has now recorded three points (one goal, two assists) and eigfht penalty minutes in five post-season games.
