PHOTO: Alexandre Giroux tallied a pair of goals as Hartford skated to a 5-2 win over Lowell in Game 1 of their AHL Atlantic Division Semifinals series on Thursday at the Civic Center.

AMERICAN HOCKEY LEAGUE:

Lowell 2, Hartford 5
Hartford leads series, 1-0
Goals from Dominic Moore, Jeff Hamilton, Ryan Hollweg and a pair by Alexandre Giroux lifted the Hartford Wolf Pack to 5-2 victory over the Lowell Lock Monsters on Thursday in the first game of the Atlantic Division Semifinals at the Civic Center. Netminder Jason LaBarbera turned aside 39 of 41 Lowell attempts in the win. The Pack are back in action on Saturday as they face Lowell in Game 2 (7:05 PM ET). ONTARIO HOCKEY LEAGUE:

Ottawa (Petruzalek) 3, Peterborough 2 (OT)
Ottawa leads series, 1-0
In Peterborough, Jeremy Akeson scored 2:16 into overtime to lift the Ottawa 67's to a 3-2 win over the Petes in the opening game of the SportChek Eastern Conference final series on Thursday. Jakub Petruzalek and Chris Hulit also scored and Lukas Kaspar added a pair of assists in the win. Daniel Ryder opened the scoring on a powerplay early in the first period and Trevor Hendrikx added a powerplay marker in the second period for the Petes, who travel to Ottawa for Game 2 on Saturday.
