Week of Jan. 22-28

Tom Pyatt -- Pyatt continued his excellent season with the Saginaw Spirit with an impressive three-games in three days stretch. On Jan. 26, Pyatt assisted on Ryan O'Marra's game-winning goal in the third period and finished the game with a plus-1 rating. The assist was Pyatt's 50th point of the season. The next night proved even better for Pyatt. He had two goals, including the game-winner at 16:39 of the third period, breaking a 4-4 tie. The goals were Pyatt's 24th and 25th of the season. The third game of this stretch saw Pyatt on the score sheet yet again, scoring at 2:46 of the third period. It gave Pyatt 53 points for the season, matching his OHL career best set last season.

Tomas Zaborsky -- Another member of the Saginaw Spirit had a standout week alongside Pyatt. Zaborsky scored the Spirit's third goal on the power play at 8:39 of the second period, giving the Spirit a 3-2 lead in their eventual win over Oshawa. He finished the game with a plus-1 rating. The next night saw him post a plus-1 rating again, as Saginaw defeated Windsor 5-4. But Zaborsky's best game was the following night in Windsor. He had the only assist on a Ryan McDonough goal at 1:02 of the second period. He then scored his 12th goal of the season at 6:29 of the third period.

Michael Sauer -- Consistency was the word that best described the play of defenseman Sauer this past week. The Medicine Hat Tigers played four games over the week, and Sauer was solid in all of them. In a 2-1 win over Brandon, he assisted on Brennan Bosch's game-winning goal in the second period and finished the game with a plus-1 rating. In his next game, Sauer assisted on the opening goal. He again finished with a plus-1 rating, helping the Tigers to a 4-1 win. In his third game of the week, Sauer again had a plus-1 rating as Medicine Hat scored a 7-2 victory over Lethbridge. In the final game of the week, a 4-1 victory over Red Deer, again had an assist and had a plus-3 rating for the game, giving him an excellent plus-6 for the week.

Ryan Russell -- Russell continued his excellent progress with another productive week for the Kootenay Ice. Against Red Deer, he assisted on Michael Busto's power play goal at 3:48 of the second period. He also assisted on Steve DaSilva's goal at 6:07 of the third period. For his efforts, Russell was named the game's second star. In Kootenay's 4-3 win over Spokane, Russell scored a shorthanded goal at 6:12 of the second period. This type of production has been the norm for Russell, who has 18 goals, 25 assists, and a plus-17 rating in 38 games this season for Kootenay.

Brodie Dupont -- The Calgary Hitmen's top goal scorer continues to impress. On Sunday, a 5-1 win over Kelowna, Dupont helped lead the way. He had the only assist on Ryan White's shorthanded goal at 3:58, the eventual game winner, giving the Hitmen a 2-0 lead. He later added his 24th goal of the season. Dupont finished the game with a plus-3 rating and had 51 points through 51 games.
