Emerging from the Pack

Adam Tambellini registered a goal in both of Hartford's games during the week, and he tallied the game-deciding goal in the shootout in the Wolf Pack's 2-1 win on Oct. 8 against Lehigh Valley. Tambellini also led Hartford with eight shots on goal in the two contests during the week. The Rangers' third round pick (65th overall) in the 2013 NHL Entry Draft established AHL career-highs in assists (22) and points (35) last season, and he finished the 2016-17 season with seven points (two goals, five assists) in his last 14 games.

Chris Nell stopped 28 of 29 shots he faced in regulation/overtime and stopped all three shooters he faced in the shootout to earn a win on Oct. 8 vs. Lehigh Valley. Nell, who was signed by the Rangers as an undrafted free agent on March 23, 2017, posted a 17-14-2 record, along with a 2.15 GAA, a .916 SV%, and 4 SO in his final collegiate season with Bowling Green in 2016-17.

Cole Schneider tallied the first goal of the AHL season by registering a goal 54 seconds into the Wolf Pack's season opener on Oct. 6 vs. Charlotte. Schneider, who signed with the Rangers as a free agent on July 1, 2017, tied for sixth in the AHL in points last season (63).

Ryan Gropp tallied his first professional/AHL goal/point while making his professional/AHL debut in Hartford's season opener on Oct. 6 vs. Charlotte.

Neal Pionk posted a plus-one rating while making his professional/AHL debut on Oct. 6 vs. Charlotte, and he registered his first career professional/AHL assist/point on Oct. 8 vs. Lehigh Valley.

• Lias Andersson, C, Frolunda Indians (SHL) -Andersson registered two points (one goal, one assist), won eight of 11 faceoffs (72.7%), recorded three shots on goal, and posted a plus-two rating in 16:05 of ice time while helping Frolunda earn a 5-1 win in a Champions Hockey League (CHL) game against Rapaces de Gap on Oct. 3. The Rangers' first round pick (seventh overall) in the 2017 NHL Entry Draft has tallied two points (one goal, one assist) in four CHL games with Frolunda this season. In addition, Andersson made his debut with Frolunda in Swedish Hockey League (SHL) competition on Oct. 5 against Lulea.
• Sean Day, D, Windsor Spitfires (OHL) -Day recorded an assist, posted a plus-two rating, and was selected as the game's Third Star in Windsor's 2-1 win against Guelph on Oct. 6. The Rangers' third round pick (81st overall) in the 2016 NHL Entry Draft has registered one assist and five shots on goal through his first three OHL contests in 2017-18.
• Adam Huska, G, University of Connecticut (NCAA) -Huska stopped 38 of 39 shots he faced to earn his first win of the season on Oct. 7 at Maine. The Rangers' seventh round pick (184th overall) in the 2015 NHL Entry Draft posted a 1-1-0 record, along with a 2.51 GAA and a .931 SV% (67 saves on 72 shots) in two appearances during the week. Huska has made at least 30 saves in 14 of his 23 career collegiate appearances with UConn.
• Tyler Nanne, D, University of Minnesota (NCAA) -Nanne made his collegiate hockey debut on Oct. 6 at Minnesota Duluth, and he registered his first career collegiate assist/point while skating in his second career collegiate game on Oct. 7 vs. Union. The Rangers' fifth round pick (142nd overall) in the 2014 NHL Entry Draft notched an assist on the game-winning goal and posted a plus-one rating against Union.
• Tarmo Reunanen, D, TPS (Liiga) -Reunanen posted a plus-two rating while skating in a single-game season-high 19:15 of ice time to help TPS earn a 3-2 win against KalPa on Oct. 7. The Rangers' fourth round pick (98th overall) in the 2016 NHL Entry Draft has tallied one assist and has posted a plus-two rating in 11 games with TPS in 2017-18.
• Patrik Virta, C, TPS (Liiga) -Virta registered two assists and posted a plus-one rating to help TPS defeat KalPa, 3-2, on Oct. 7. The Rangers' seventh round pick (207th overall) in the 2017 NHL Entry Draft has recorded four assists/points in the last four games and has registered eight points (one goal, seven assists) and a plus-five rating in 11 games with TPS this season.
