Three Stars of the Week
Tim Gettinger, LW, Sault Ste. Marie Greyhounds (OHL) - Gettinger tallied an assist/point in all three games last week, and posted a multi-point game in two of the three contests. Gettinger concluded the week with five points (two goals, three assists) and a plus-four rating in the three contests. He recorded two points (one goal, one assist) and posted a plus-three rating on Nov. 27 at Oshawa.
The Rangers' fifth round pick (141st overall) has recorded a point in five of the last six games (and has posted four multi-point games in the six contests), registering 10 points (six goals, four assists) and a plus-nine rating over the span. Gettinger has recorded 15 points (nine goals, six assists) in his last 14 games, and he has registered 53 shots on goal over the span (3.8 shots on goal per game). He is tied for the team lead in plus/minus rating (plus-eight), is tied for second in goals (11), and ranks third in shots on goal (81) this season.
Gabriel Fontaine, C, Rouyn-Noranda Huskies (QMJHL) - Fontaine tallied an assist/point in each of the Huskies' three games during the week, recording four assists/points. The Rangers' sixth round pick (171st overall) in the 2016 NHL Entry Draft extended his assist/point streak to four games (one goal, six assists over the span).
Fontaine has registered a point in 15 of 19 QMJHL games this season, recording 22 points (eight goals, 14 assists), and he has gone two consecutive games without a point this season. In addition, Fontaine has won 53.9% of faceoffs he has taken this season (173-for-321). He ranks fifth on the Huskies in points per game thus far this season (1.16). Since the start of the 2015-16 season, Fontaine has registered 67 points (28 goals, 39 assists) and a plus-39 rating in 82 QMJHL games.
Sergey Zborovskiy, D, Regina Pats (WHL) - Zborovskiy registered a goal in two of Regina's three games during the week (two goals over the span). The Rangers' third round pick (79th overall) in the 2015 NHL Entry Draft has tallied a point in 16 of the 20 WHL games he has played in 2016-17 (three goals, 13 assists), and he has posted a plus-two rating or better in 12 of the 20 contests. He ranks second in the WHL in plus/minus rating this season (plus-29), and ranks 16th among WHL defensemen in points per game in 2016-17 (0.80).
Emerging from the Pack
Ryan Graves posted a multi-point game in each of Hartford's three contests during the week, registering six points (one goal, five assists) over the span. The Rangers' fourth round pick (110th overall) in the 2013 NHL Entry Draft extended his assist/point streak to four games (one goal, six assists). Graves leads the Wolf Pack in assists this season (nine). In addition, Graves ranks second among AHL defensemen in shots on goal (60), is tied for eighth among AHL defensemen in assists, and is tied for ninth among AHL defensemen in points (12) this season.
Mat Bodie recorded an assist/point in each of Hartford's three games during the week (one goal, three assists). Bodie extended his goal streak to three games by tallying a goal in the Wolf Pack's first game during the week on Nov. 23 vs. Bridgeport, and he currently has a five-game point streak (three goals, three assists over the span). He has registered seven points (four goals, three assists) in the last seven contests, and he is tied for sixth among AHL defensemen in goals this season (four).
Daniel Bernhardt, RW, VIK Vasteras HK (Allsvenskan) - Bernhardt tallied a goal on Nov. 25 against Tingsryds AIF. The Rangers' fourth round pick (119th overall) in the 2015 NHL Entry Draft has recorded three points (two goals, one assist) in 12 games with VIK Vasteras HK this season.
Sean Day, D, Windsor Spitfires (OHL) - Day tallied an assist in Windsor's first game of the week on Nov. 24 at Peterborough, extending his point streak to three games. The Rangers' third round pick (81st overall) in the 2016 NHL Entry Draft has recorded a point in 12 of 19 OHL games this season, registering 15 points (seven goals, eight assists). Day is tied for fourth among OHL defensemen in goals this season (seven). He leads OHL defensemen in goals per game (0.37) and ranks eight among OHL defensemen in points per game (0.79) in 2016-17.
Ryan Gropp, LW, Seattle Thunderbirds (WHL) - Gropp tallied a point in three of Seattle's four games last week (two goals, one assist), including a goal in each of the Thunderbirds' final two contests of the week, and he posted a plus-four rating over the four contests. The Rangers' second round pick (41st overall) in the 2015 NHL Entry Draft has registered a point in 12 of the last 15 games, tallying 13 points (five goals, eight assists) over the span. Gropp has recorded 14 points (five goals, nine assists) in 18 games with the Thunderbirds in 2016-17.
Ty Ronning, RW, Vancouver Giants (WHL) - Ronning registered a goal in two of Vancouver's three games last week. The Rangers' seventh round pick (201st overall) in the 2016 NHL Entry Draft has tallied a point in 16 of 24 WHL games this season. Ronning ranks second on the team in goals (nine) and assists (11), is tied for second on Vancouver in plus/minus rating (plus-five), and ranks third on the team in points (20) this season.
Igor Shesterkin, G, SKA St. Petersburg (KHL) - Shesterkin earned a win in each of his three appearances last week. Shesterkin made 36 saves and tallied two assists in SKA's 6-3 win against CSKA on Nov. 21. The Rangers' fourth round pick (118th overall) in the 2014 NHL Entry Draft has posted an 18-1-0 record, along with a 1.30 GAA, a .950 SV%, and 7 SO in his last 20 KHL appearances.
In 26 KHL appearances in 2016-17, Shesterkin has posted a 21-2-1 record, along with a 1.51 GAA, a .942 SV%, and 8 SO. He leads the KHL in SO, ranks third in GAA, and is tied for third in SV% this season. Shesterkin is the only goaltender who ranks tied for third or better in the KHL in GAA, SV%, and SO this season.
